Designing the Future of Science Communication Together<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The KielSCN is an interdisciplinary research center. In the interplay of educational research, information design and innovative health research, we develop new approaches for the communication of scientific content. Thereby, the focus is on the visualization of information and its perception on the part of the users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Core of our Collaborative Approach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We understand the importance of diverse perspectives and external expertise to drive innovation. The KielSCN Fellowship Program is therefore at the core of our collaborative approach. To position ourselves as diversely as possible, we offer two different tracks: Creative Fellowships and Research Fellowships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creative Fellowships<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

These fellowships are for creative minds who want to bring their unique talents to science communication. Develop novel projects at KielSCN that merge art, design and technology with scientific approaches. In doing so, you will work closely with our team as a Creative Fellow. You will have access to Kiel’s cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art resources to bring your ideas to life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Research Fellowships<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

Our Research Fellowships offer scientists the opportunity to work on temporary research projects in our multidisciplinary environment. Benefit from our many years of experience in quantitative research as well as from our extensive network of experts. Together, we explore the most effective ways to communicate complex scientific information through engaging visualizations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Promoting Creativity, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All KielSCN Fellows are part of our team. They work with like-minded individuals who share the passion for advancing science communication. Together, we create an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Gesine Born<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Since July 1, Gesine Born is the first Creative Fellow at KielSCN. The goal of her fellowship project is to give women in science greater visibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Carsten K\u00f6nneker<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From August 1 to September 30, 2023, Carsten K\u00f6nneker supported KielSCN as a further Creative Fellow. He worked on developing a concept for the participatory platform with Spektrum der Wissenschaft.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friederike Hendriks<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Friederike Hendriks joined KielSCN as the first Research Fellow from September 1 to November 30, 2023. In her project, she focused on the question of how science communication is woven into researchers’ own professional identity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lars Reinelt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Since September 1, 2024, Lars Reinelt is a Research Fellow at KielSCN. Over the next six months, he will be working on the evaluation of interactive formats of visual science communication in the context of collaborative design processes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Keren Dalyot<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On June 30, Dr. Keren Dalyot began her six-week research fellowship. The goal of her project is to gain a deeper understanding of the connections and interdependencies between scientific topics and research topics in science communication.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chiara Holzh\u00e4user supported KielSCN as a research fellow from March 1 to October 31, 2025. In her fellowship project, she examined how various German news media visually portray stigmatized illnesses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
