Communicating Science in Unusual Places<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Multiresi Campaign on Antibiotic Resistance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>How can the topic of antibiotic resistance be communicated in unusual places? This was the question we asked Master&#8217;s students from the Interactive Media and Spatial Strategies departments at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design. They then developed various concepts in the Pop-Up Science! semester project in the summer semester of 2022. One project idea particularly impressed both the expert jury and the public: Multiresi. It&#8217;s a brand that combines knowledge from research into antibiotic resistance with various products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Implementation of the Multiresi Campaign<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the campaign, various Multiresi products appeared throughout the city of Kiel from May to September 2023. Just like bacteria, the brand gradually crept into the everyday lives of the city&#8217;s residents. It started in the classic way with posters, postcards and stickers. This was followed by toilet paper in cinemas, caf\u00e9s and university toilets as well as Multiresi beer at major public events such as the Waterkant Festival or the Digital Week Kiel. A dedicated Instagram account provided regular updates and further information. Subversively, the products and the associated knowledge creep into the everyday lives of consumers. At the same time, solutions for combating the antibiotics crisis were to be highlighted. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.multiresi.de\/ueber-multiresi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Multiresi website<\/a> (in German only) provides information on what individuals can do to curb the problem. In addition, the website provides insights into the research carried out by scientists in Kiel. During the course of the summer semester of 2022 they designed pop-up stores as scientific exhibitions in a small space for the KielSCN. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thematic focus was on antibiotics and multi-resistance. Specialist input came from scientists from microbiome and evolutionary research at Kiel University. These scientists from Hinrich Schulenburg&#8217;s working group were also available for questions during the course of the project. In a one-day workshop, the students also dealt with the processes of co-design and design thinking.
