Term project Pop-Up Science!

Students of the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts develop concepts for the visualization of health topics

In the term project Pop-Up Science! master students of the departments Interactive Media and Spatial Strategies at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts develop concepts for the visualization of health topics in unusual places during the summer term 2022. Thus, they will design pop-up stores for KielSCN in interdisciplinary teams as scientific exhibitions in small spaces. Possible concepts include thematically designed rooms, interactive objects, graphics or posters, projected films or 3D animations. The rooms and locations can also take on a performative character.

Focus of content on antibiotics and multiresistance

The focus of content is on the topic of antibiotics and multiresistance. Scientists from the fields of microbiome and evolutionary research at Kiel University will provide expert input. In two lecture events, students will gain insights into the research areas of evolutionary ecology and genetics, evolutionary medicine and genomic microbiology. They will also learn about antibiotic resistance originating in barns and why the use of antibiotics is usually well-intentioned but not always well-done.
Co-design and design thinking

Co-Design and Design Thinking

In a day-long workshop, the students also deal with processes of co-design and design thinking. Co-design systematically involves all participating actors and stakeholders, as well as the general public not familiar with the subject, in the development process. Design thinking is an approach to solving problems that puts the focus on people.
