Following a successful evaluation, the Kiel Science Communication Network (KielSCN) has been granted a three-year follow-up funding through November 2029 under the “Science Communication to the Power of Three—Centers for Science Communication Research” funding program.
Since September 1, 2024, Lars Reinelt is supporting the Kiel Science Communication Network (KielSCN) as a Research Fellow. His activities focus on the evaluation of interactive visualizations in science communication.
On Friday, August 30, KielSCN will part of the Museumsnacht Kiel. Visitors can enjoy insights into the world of visual science communication. Anyone interested can learn more about the use of AI in the field of data visualization or explore the Midjourney Style Tuner to change images according to personal preferences.
What happens when we can no longer reliably distinguish scientific information from misinformation? This question was addressed by 45 school students at the Young Waterkant Festival on June 12 together with the two KielSCN doctoral students Anna Vollersen and Jane Martha Momme.
On June 6 and 7, the conference “Science Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” took place at the University of Zurich. Around 100 participants from science communication research and practice came together to present and discuss current developments in the field of generative AI.
From May 15 to 17, 2024, the four research centers for science communication funded by the Volkswagen Foundation came together in Kiel for a networking meeting. The participants from Munich, Tübingen, the Ruhr Region and Hanover used the time together to discuss the topic of target groups.
Today, science communication is demanded and promoted in all areas of research, and the world of ideas and initiatives for implementation is broad and diverse. But who do these offers actually reach? Let’s discuss this on Wednesday, May 15, together with representatives of the four research centers for science communication funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, but also with all interested parties.
From August 1 to September 30, 2023, Carsten Könneker will support the Kiel Science Communication Network (KielSCN) as an additional Creative Fellow. During his fellowship, he will work on parts of the concept for the participatory platform that we are building together with our practice partner Spektrum der Wissenschaft.
As of July 1, Gesine Born is the first Creative Fellow in the KielSCN. The aim of her fellowship project is to give women in science greater visibility.

Here, the artist collective teamLab has created an exhibition in which visitors walk barefoot through water, change the works with their presence and become one with nature.
